Internship / Practicum Placement Opportunities

CJS Psychotherapy & Consulting Services is happy to contribute to the development and training of future therapists. We offer student internships and practicum placements to students completing their Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (or equivalent). We are able to offer both in-person and virtual placement opportunities.

Students will be supervised by Cynthia Schoppmann who is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and meets the CRPO’s supervisor requirements.

What we offer:

• One hour per week of individual or dyadic supervision that meets the supervision requirements for both your school placement, as well as the CRPO
• Opportunity to accrue additional supervision hours per month through the practice’s group supervision
• The ability to utilize and learn the therapeutic modalities that you are interested in, while maintaining client-centred care
• Office space (if working in-person in the Ottawa area)
• Access to a secure video platform to perform virtual therapy appointments
• Access to a secure, easy-to-use online booking and filing system
• A collaborative team environment

• Are willing and able to provide more than the minimum requirements for your degree to contribute to the team and help support the practice
• Will ask for help when needed, and are passionate about learning
• Are confident in your role as a helping professional
• Have a thorough knowledge of, and abide by, all of the ethical standards and guidelines for providing therapy
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Are client-centred, and tailor your approach to meet the needs of your clients
